Chatbot Becomes A Work Tool

Chatbot Becomes A Work Tool

ChatGPT, developed by the US company OpenAI and financed by Microsoft, can respond to any user input in chat style. Since November 2022, the chatbot has been publicly accessible as a prototype of a text-based dialogue system. An evaluation from Statista shows how enormous the user resonance is. ChatGPT had more than one million active users within 0.15 months, less than five days after launch. To reach this million mark, Instagram needed three months, Spotify five and Facebook ten months.

Among the German IR professionals, as the latest survey of the German Investor Relations Association shows, willingness to use the services of ChatGPT in daily work is growing. The DVFA monthly question from March to investment professionals was how relevant ChatGPT will be for current and future IR work. A majority is convinced that the new technology could profoundly change the entire industry. 35% of respondents had already written texts with the help of ChatGPT. 67% of the experts interviewed believe that ChatGPT can support tailor-made solutions in the future and therefore every investment professional must deal with the technology sooner or later.

The benefits are mainly seen in a long term perspective: 53% currently see an opportunity for this, 69% of the respondents in three years. AI is currently seen as a risk by 8% and 15% consider that it will be a risk in three years. 67% of the IR professionals interviewed believe that Chat GPT can develop personalised investment strategies within the next three years based on the preferences and goals of the investors.

Less clear is the assessment of how Chat GPT will influence the analysis of financial data as well as the prediction of investment decisions in the future. 3% see it as a “good vehicle”, but this figure rises to 33% when the respondent is asked about its potential three years from now. “Currently mediocre” is the opinion of 39% of the respondents, and of 49% when asked about prospects three years hence. 58% see Chat GPT as a weak vehicle now, but this figure drops to 18% when asked about prospects for three years from now.
